About
Jeannie Fu is Of Counsel at Metaverse Law, where she advises mid-sized and global companies on a wide range of technology transactions, including AI, privacy, and complex cross-border operations. Having served as in-house counsel at multiple fast-paced technology and e-commerce companies, including Newegg and Neudesic (acquired by IBM), Jeannie provides pragmatic and strategic legal advice that aligns with her clients’ business and innovation goals.
Beyond her transactional expertise, Jeannie helps businesses explore practical and responsible ways to integrate AI technologies into their operations, providing guidance on strategy, implementation, and risk mitigation. She also advises on privacy and data protection matters, including compliance with laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and data protection laws in the APAC region, and stays at the forefront of emerging global legal and regulatory developments surrounding artificial intelligence.
Jeannie speaks English and is proficient in Mandarin Chinese, allowing her to serve a diverse client base with cross-border and multilingual needs.
Jeannie is also the founder and managing partner of WAYWOO Law, APC, a boutique corporate transactional law firm based in Southern California. Through her practice, she provides fractional General Counsel services, acting as a trusted legal advisor to Chinese and Chinese-American companies that need flexible, in-house style counsel for corporate transactions, contract negotiations, governance matters, and overall business and strategic planning. Outside of work, Jeannie enjoys spending time with her toddler, exploring local farmers markets, and working or reading in coffee shops. She’s an avid fan of business and true crime podcasts and loves connecting with others for inspiring, thought-provoking conversations.
