What Types of Data Do We Collect From You and Why Do We Collect It?

  • Information You Give Us. You may give us information about you by contacting us by phone, e-mail or otherwise. We will use your data for the specific purpose for which you submitted it and may use your contact details to send you marketing materials and information unless you opt out from receiving them. You may also leave comments on the websites. We collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
  • Cookies.
    • WordPress Cookies. We use WordPress to develop our websites. If you leave a comment on our websites you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
    • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to analyze the performance of our websites, to analyze trends, administer the website, track aggregate users’ movements around the websites, to gather statistical data about the demographics of our user base, and to improve your experience with our website. Users can choose to refuse Google tracking through our cookie notice or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add on. We do not use Google Analytics to identify any individual users or to provide targeted advertising.
    • YouTube. We use YouTube to store and show video content on our websites. YouTube sets the following cookies:
      • YSC — Registers a unique ID to keep statistics of what videos from YouTube the user has seen.
      • VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE — Tries to estimate the users’ bandwidth on pages with integrated YouTube videos.
      • GPS — Registers a unique ID on mobile devices to enable tracking based on geographical GPS location.

    • Wordfence. We use the Wordfence WordPress Security plugin to improve the security of our website. For more information, please see the Wordfence Privacy Policy.
    • Social Media. Our website may include social media buttons or widgets (“social media elements”). These social media elements may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media elements are governed by the privacy policy of the social media company providing the feature and/or widget.
  • California Do Not Track Disclosure. We do not track website visitors over time and across third party websites to provide targeted advertising. We respond to ‘Do Not Track’ (DNT) signals for our website’s Google Analytics. We do not currently respond to DNT signals for other tracking technologies, and use your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
  • Analytics/Log Files. We may gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data. We may combine this automatically collected log information with other information we collect about you. We do this to improve the security of our website and troubleshoot website errors.
  • Our Policy Toward Children. This website is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@metaverselaw.com. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

How Do We Use Personal Information?

  • YouTube. We use YouTube to store and show video content on our website. Users can choose to refuse YouTube cookies through our cookie notice or through the instructions here.

If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies.   • Disclosures Required by Law. We may be required to disclose your data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet law enforcement requirements. We may be under a duty to disclose or share your personal information in order to comply with any legal obligation, to enforce or apply our terms and conditions and other agreements, to protect our rights, property, or safety, or the protect the rights, property, or safety of others. Security and Data Retention

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you enter, submit, or access your personal information. For example, when possible, we use encryption to transfer and store data. We further limit access to this data using access controls and confidentiality commitments. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our websites (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
